The Society for the Promotion of Roman Studies, generally known as the Roman Society, was founded in 1910 as the sister society to the Society for the Promotion of Hellenic Studies. Leading society in the United Kingdom for those interested in the study of ancient Rome and the Roman Empire.

A photographic reference library and teaching collection assembled in the late 19th to the mid 20th century by the Society for the Promotion of Roman Studies (SPRS) that includes photographs, lantern slides, and lectures documenting early archaeological excavations and aiding in the study of ancient Roman culture.

The archaeological site of Ostia, Rimini and Ravenna (Emilia-Romagna) with mosaics from Sant'Apollinare in Classe and Siena (Tuscany) are also comprised in this set.
