Inscriptions of Roman Tripolitania, 1947 - 1951
Scope and Contents
Documents from this file relate to the Inscriptions of Roman Tripolitania publication project, a collaborative effort that John Bryan Ward-Perkins started in 1947 to reinstate the partnership with Italian scholars in the aftermath of WWII. The work concerns editorial work on the classical inscriptions of Tripolitania, many of which were unpublished, including their findspot and archaeological context. This file concerns correspondence with notable experts in the epigraphic fields and their contribution to the volume, photographic reproduction requests, and arrangements for the texts and materials exchanged while studying inscriptions and transcriptions of texts, including bibliographic references and detailed descriptions of types of stones.
