Apulia, 1947, 1948 - 1950
Scope and Contents
Documentation regarding the British archaeological expedition to Apulia, known also as 'Apulia Excavations' project. The project was made possible by the cooperation of the Society of Antiquaries, the Roman Society, the Prehistoric Society, Oxford University and the BSR. John Bradford proposed surveying and recording the Foggia Plain in Southern Italy to corroborate the evidence that emerged through war-time aerial photographs taken by the Royal Air Force. Correspondence preserved in this file addressed practical and financial issues involving many other individuals who contributed to the project's establishment and administration, including Olwen Brogan, Secretary to the Faculty of Archaeology, History, and Letters.
