Scope and Contents
This sub-series documents activities relating to excavations in Italy and North Africa. It includes correspondence with Italian and Libyan authorities to obtain permission to conduct archaeological fieldwork, appeals for funding, financial information relating to archaeological expeditions, and relationships with funding institutions back in England. The file concerning the activities carried out in North Africa also includes correspondence with various parties responsible for managing the major archaeological sites and antiquities in both regions of Libya: Tripolitania and Cyrenaica. References to work and study conducted in situ for the Inscriptions of Roman Tripolitania (IRT) publication and correspondence on the repatriation of antiquities from Italy to North Africa are also part of this sub-group.
