John Percy Vyvian Dacre Balsdon, FBA (4 November 1901 – 18 September 1977), known as J.P.V.D. Balsdon in his academic work and otherwise as Dacre Balsdon, was an English ancient historian and author. He was a Fellow of Exeter College, Oxford from 1927 to 1969, and President of the Society for the Promotion of Roman Studies from 1968 to 1971. He was elected Fellow of the British Academy in 1967.
Role within the BSR:
Chairman of the Faculty of Archaeology, History and Letters (1959-1963). From 1960 to 1973 he was a co-opted Council member and Executive member.

The Balsdon Fellowship was established in 1978. It offers a three-month residency at the BSR to senior scholars who are engaged in research in the archaeology, art history, history or literature of Italy. This sub-series includes all the files of scholars who received financial support for their research under this scheme and includes applications forms, administrative documentation and research reports.
