 Sub-Fonds

Scope and Contents

Governance records relates to the activities of governing and steering an organisation by managing and overseeing the process of making high-level decisions. It is the exclusive responsibility of past and current ‘governing bodies’ such as Council, Executive Committee and Sub-committees, Faculties that are accountable for the performance and conformance of the institution to its mission. These entities are also responsible for the strategic direction of the entire organisation in liaison with the appointed Director.

Documents from this sub-fonds include a variety of records such as agendas, meeting minutes, correspondence with Chairs of Council, Committees and Faculties as well as with Members, Secretaries and Honorary Treasurers. Other series are concerned with the activities of the Publications Committe, the Finance Committees, the Library Committee and the Charity Commission. Strategic planning and policies, which are developed, reviewed and approved within a governance framework are also part of this section. General Secretary and London Administration files are also preserved in this sub-fond and records pertaining to grants and funding received through governamental support, namely, via the British Academy.
