Abstract
Thomas Ashby's manuscript and typewritten notes and notebooks on archaeological and topographical subjects. Notes on various manuscipt collections are also present, including Asnby's research on the dal Pozzo-Albani drawing collection at Windsor Castle.

Arrangement of manuscript and typewritten notes
Ashby's archive of notes and notebooks was basically sorted out in the 1990s and arranged by topographical subjects or subject matter (topical or geographical). Not all the content was described at the item level with the exception of a few boxes, which were renumbered.

Arrangement of notebooks
Ashby's notebooks are currently stored in two boxes and have been described according to their original location in the manuscript boxes.
Arrangement of the Cassiano dal Pozzo Series
Ashby's manuscript notes as well as a selection of photographs on the dal Pozzo-Albani drawing collection at Windsor Castle are organised in 9 boxes.
Physical Location
Thomas Ashby Notes and Notebooks are located in the Archive Office and in the New basement (Photographic Archive, cupboard n. 3 and cupboard n. 10).

An inventory providing descritpions at the item level is available upon request for boxes 1 to 5 (new numbering) and 35 (old numbering).
Provenance
This archive was formally acquired by the BSR in 1933, when Thomas Ashby's wife, Caroline May, decided to donate it to the BSR to complement the purchase of his private Library and photographs.
