Scope and Contents
This file includes correspondence between the Director and the Honorary General Secretary of the British School at Rome. The subject matter is primarily concerned with the general administration of the institution and the practicalities of daily activities. The main focus is on the maintenance and development of the premises, the life of the community of students and artists throughout the period of their residency, the administration and future expansion of the Library and its collections, the management of personnel, the documentation produced by the Executive Committee, legacies, financial and insurance issues as well as budgets, financial statements and accounts. Information regarding visiting scholars, residents and groups is also provided. We find Evelyn Shaw and Digby Sturch among the principal correspondents on behalf of the 1851 Commissioners.
