Scope and Contents
Box of loose postcards arranged alphabetically by location worldwide: Africa (including locations in Tunisia, Algeria, Libya), Asia (including locations in Lebanon, Tunisia [actually in Africa], Japan), Austria, Belgium, Croatia, France, and Germany.
Some postcards have been used and feature messages addressed to ESS. Some postcards are addressed to Thomas and/or Mrs [Caroline] Ashby [née May; Thomas Ashby’s wife]; these are generally identified by post-it notes marked ‘TA’, added at an earlier stage.
