Box of loose postcards arranged alphabetically by location in Italy: Amalfi, Ancona, Anguillara, Anzio, Aosta, Aqui, Aquila, Aquileia, Arezzo, Ascoli, Assisi, Bacoli, Baia, Barbana, Barbarano, Bari, Barletta, Bassanello, Bergamo, Bologna, Bracciano, Brescia, Buonconvento, Caere, Cagliari, Camaldoli, Caprarola, Capri, Carbognano, Carpì, Castelfranco Veneto, Castelvetrano, Cefalù, Cesano, Chieti, Chiusi, Cittadella.

Some postcards have been used and feature messages addressed to ESS. Some postcards are addressed to Thomas and/or Mrs [Caroline] Ashby [née May; Thomas Ashby’s wife]; these are generally identified by post-it notes marked ‘TA’, added at an earlier stage.
