Documents from this file include: invitation letter by Evelyn Shaw (BSR Honorary General Secretary) to join the Faculty of Architecture; letter of acceptance by Holford; correspondence (immediately after the end of World War II) with Shaw about the appointment of Holford in the Executive Committee of the Faculty, specifically to advise on the school buildings and student welfare; correspondence with Shaw about the paintings of Holford’s wife, Marjoirie Brooks, from the period she attended the BSR and found in the BSR’s deposits; correspondence with W. D. Sturch (BSR Honorary General Secretary) concerning meetings, minutes and financing difficulties (most of the correspondence comes from Holford secretaries); correspondence with Sturch concerning the funding of scholarships by the Royal British Institute of Architects; correspondence with C. A. H. James (BSR Honorary General Secretary) concerning meetings (mostly to announce non-attendance). The file includes the Obituaries of Holford, published in «The Times» on October 20th, 1975. The original cover of the file (hereby included) is a recycled four-sided document of BSR, titled “Rome Scholarship and Abbey Major Scholarship in Painting, 1974”.
