Documents from this file include: invitation letter by Evelyn Shaw (BSR Honorary General Secretary) to join the Faculty of Architecture; letter of acceptance by de Soissons; correspondence with Shaw concerning meetings and competition programmes; letter by de Soissons asking for contributions to the “Artists General Benevolent Institution”, to help architects and their families affected by World War II events; letter by Shaw asking de Soissons, while in Rome in 1944 with the Imperial War Graves Committee, to visit the School and assess the physical situation; correspondence with W. D. Sturch (BSR Honorary General Secretary) concerning meetings, minutes, and the issue of military service interference with the competition for scholarships; correspondence about the resignation of de Soissons from the Faculty. The file includes the Obituary of de Soissons, published in «The Times» in September 1962. The original cover of the file (hereby included) is a recycled four-sided document of BSR, reproducing the text of a letter addressed in January, 1931, to the Italian Minister of Education, asking for the recognition of BSR as an “Ente Morale” under Italian Law.
