Documents from this file include: invitation letter by Evelyn Shaw (BSR Honorary General Secretary) to join the Faculty of Architecture for a one year spell; letter of acceptance by Davis; correspondence with Shaw concerning several renewals of participation in the Faculty; correspondence with Shaw about meetings and candidates; correspondence with Shaw on the invitation to Davis to re-join the Faculty after a long interruption due to illness; letter of acceptance by Davis; correspondence with W.D. Sturch (BSR Honorary General Secretary), concerning meetings, a visit to Rome to give architectural advise for the extension of the Library; note by Sturch on the same issue and correspondence concerning the reproduction on photographs of the original Lutyens plans of BSR (this includes also correspondence with Thomas Spencer, colleague of Davis in the architecture firm Mewes and Davis); report by Davis on his visit to Rome. The file includes the Obituaries of Davis, published in The Times in July 1951 and in the RIBA Journal in September 1951. The original cover of the file (hereby included) is a recycled four-sided document of BSR, titled “Rome Scholarship in Architecture, 1940 – Instructions to Candidates”.
