Cordingley, Reginald Annandale, 1933 - 1962
Scope and Contents
Documents from this file include: invitation letter by Evelyn Shaw (BSR Honorary General Secretary) to join the Faculty of Architecture; letter of acceptance by Cordingley; correspondence with Shaw concerning meetings and minutes; letter to Shaw concerning the resuming of the scholarship competition interrupted because of World War II; correspondence with W.D. Sturch (BSR Honorary General Secretary) concerning meetings, reports, candidates, missions of BSR scholars to North Africa (Leptis Magna); correspondence with Sturch about the new format of the pamphlet for the call of candidates (format and contents are considered too leaning to classical architecture); correspondence with Sturch on the reasons behind the lack of candidates to the Rome Scholarship at the beginning of the 1950s, specifically due to the interference of the period in the Army (National Service); correspondence with Sturch concerning the resignation of Cordingley from the Faculty of Architecture. The original cover of the file (hereby included) is a recycled four-sided document of BSR, reproducing the text of a letter addressed in January, 1931, to the Italian Minister of Education, asking for the recognition of BSR as an “Ente Morale” under Italian Law.
