Lorimer, Robert Stodart, Sir, 1864-1929 (British architect)
Biography/Historical Note
He was born in Edinburgh in 1864. He studied at Edinburgh Academy and at the University of Edinburgh but never completed his studies. He entered the architectural practice in 1895 and by 1891 he opened his own practice in Edinburgh. He became renown for his restoration works in the Scottish Baronial style. After WWI, he concentrated in war memorials and other buildings connected with the remebrance of the fallen soldiers. He designed over 300 war memorials in the UK, Italy, France, Germany, Greece, Egypt. He died in 1929.
