Nixon, Job, 1891-1938 (British printmaker)
Biography/Historical Note
Etcher, printmaker and painter. Born in Stoke-on-Trent, Nixon studied at the Royal College of Art and the Slade School in Fine Art before taking on the Rome Scholarship in Engraving at the BSR in 1920. Known especially for landscape and topograhpical scenes of Italy, France, and other areas in Europe. After return from Rome, Nixon taught at the Engraving School of the Royal College of Fine Art, as assistant to Malcom Osbourne. He began to exhbit his works with the Royal Soceity of Painters in Watercolours, becoming an associate member in 1934. He later taught at the Slade from 1935, before passing away at the age of 47 in 1938.
