Scope and Contents

The War Damage photographs consists of gelatin silver photographic prints taken or collected by John Bryan Ward-Perkins on behalf of the Allied Military Government, Division of Monuments, Fine Arts and Archives (MFA&A), as Director of the Sub-Commission for Italy, to document damage to Italian monuments caused by bombing throughout Italy during World War II.

Abstract

Archive of documents, visual materials and publications documenting the actions of the Monuments Officers in the Italian territory during World War II. This archive was deposited at the BSR by John Bryan Ward-Perkins, Vice-Director and then Director of the Monuments, Fine Arts and Archives Sub-Commission in Italy.
