Photographic albums, 1955 - 2014

 Series

Scope and Contents

This Series comprises six photographic albums, totalling 1,275 items. They depict Umbrian-Sabellic votive bronzes identified by Giovanni Colonna and now held in museums and collections worldwide. They belong to periods 2 to 5, as defined by the author, as the ones pertaining to the first period have been published in the volume “Bronzi votivi umbro - sabellici a figura umana. I - Periodo ‘arcaico’” (1970). Most of the photographs are linked, through references on the reverse or, more rarely, on the front, to the cards preserved in Series GC/3 (Card Catalogue). Only a few are not associated with any card. In many cases, the front view of the statuette is accompanied by additional photographs showing the back and/or sides. The photographs were mainly taken or purchased in the early 1960s, and Giovanni Colonna revised their arrangement in the summer of 2014. This Series includes the following:

GC/2/1 - 'Secondo periodo, fino a Vulci' (Album 1)
GC/2/2 - 'Seguito del Secondo periodo, da dopo Vulci a Pollano' (Album 2)
GC/2/3 - 'Terzo periodo e inizio Quarto' (Album 3)
GC/2/4 - 'Quarto periodo' (Album 4)
GC/2/5 - 'Quinto periodo, seguito' (Album 5)
GC/2/6 - 'Quinto periodo, seguito e fine' (Album 6)
