Scope and Contents
Documents included in this file are mostly relating to the construction of the British School at Rome building in Valle Giulia and comprise numerous (copies of) letters addressed to/received from Albert .J. Thomas, Sir E. Lutyen's officer. This correspondence concerns primarily the design of the building and the organisation of the work. A number of known Italian and British authorities are represented in this file: Sir Isidore Spielmann, Sir Edwin Lutyens, Sir Evelyn Shaw, William Squire and Albert J. Thomas. Two drawings by Lutyens were also included (see 'Separated materials' section in this record).

Separated Materials
Two architectural drawings, one small copy of an original by Lutyens, modified with colour pencil, and one original by Lutyens showing the design of the Library windows have been removed has been removed and transferred to the BSR Architectural Drawings Collection.
