Scope and Contents
This sub-series comprises correspondence, both personal and professional/academic (though primarily the latter), from a wide array of senders and organisations. Some of the major recurrent institutions represented herein include the Deutsches Archäologisches Institut Rom (DAI), the British Museum (particularly the Department of Printed Books and the Department of Manuscripts, which merged with the Department of Oriental Manuscripts & Printed Books in 1973 to form the British Library), Chatsworth House, the South Kensington Board of Education (who previously presided over institutions including the South Kensington Museum, now the Victoria & Albert Museum), the National Gallery, the University of London (now University College London), and others.
