Arch of Septimus Severus, 1982

 Series

Scope and Contents

In 1982, it was decided that the conservation state of the Arch of Septimus Severus in the Foro Romano required urgent measures, and that the site needed to be covered from the rain that damaged it. The Soprintendenza Archeologica di Roma delegated the care of a survey on the site to the Comune di Roma and the BSR (director: David Whitehouse). The campaign was led jointly by Lucos Cozza and Amanda Claridge. The BSR team consisted of Robert Birbeck, John Cotter, Katherine Kiefer, Ann Kipp and Roberta Magnusson.
