The Society for the Promotion of Hellenic Studies, generally known as the Hellenic Society, was founded in 1879 to advance the study of Greek language, literature, history, art, and archaeology. Leading learned society in the United Kingdom.

Scope and Contents

Contains lantern slides arranged in numerical order from B.00529 to B.00746. Subjects include building structures and Roman roads (Via Prenestina), and excavations in Malta and in the Roman Forum. The Hadrian's Villa at Tivoli, the Amalfi coast in the Campania region and Tébessa (Algeria) are also documented. The archaeological site of Ostia, Rimini and Ravenna (Emilia-Romagna) with mosaics from Sant'Apollinare in Classe and Siena (Tuscany) are also comprised in this set.
